1:1 Wellness Coaching Through Nature, Creativity & Mindfulness
Lawers Skai — A Philosophy Rooted in Lived Experience
The way to an authentic and meaningful existence is not through endless consumerism — a common reaction but ultimately an empty response to the challenges of adulthood and the complex realities of the human condition. Instead, it is about recognising the rare modern opportunity for creating a unique mind and quality of life through nature and your connection with the natural world, creativity and your artistic expression, and mindfulness for living more deeply in the present moment. Fundamentally, as your Wellness Coach today — it is about sharing with you the wisdom I have gathered through my own journey in life.
Working together. Three Pillars of Lawers Skai
-

Authentic Self: Connection with Nature
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to wellness — and that is where we begin. Our sessions start by rediscovering your connection with nature through walking and exploring the natural landscapes around you. Whether locally in Central Scotland or in the wider Scottish Highlands, we move at your pace — gently, without agenda — allowing the natural world to do what it does best: restore perspective, quiet the noise of modern life, and begin to guide you back toward your most authentic self. Each session is shaped entirely around where you are and what you need, with reflective exercises and practical tools to carry the experience forward between sessions.
-

Self Actualisation: Creativity & Artistic Expression
Creativity is essential to human wellness — and yet for most of us, it is the first thing we abandon when life gets busy. Together, we begin outside, in the natural world around you — observing, sketching, and learning to translate what you see and feel onto the page — before choosing your creative medium and bringing your subject to life in your own way. You arrive with a finished work of art that is uniquely yours: a real, completed piece that will evolve with you over time, and an invitation to make the next one. As Schneiderman reminds us, creativity is our birthright. Finding your artistic expression is simply the beginning of claiming it.
-

Personal Transformation: Mindfulness for Mental & Emotional Resilience
Mindfulness is one of the most powerful investments you can make in yourself — and one of the simplest. At its heart, it is the practice of paying attention: on purpose, in the present moment, without judgment. Over time, this quality of attention changes everything — how you relate to your thoughts and feelings, how you respond rather than react, and how you move through the ordinary moments of your day. In our sessions together, drawing on the foundational work of Jon Kabat-Zinn and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, we build a practice that is genuinely yours — sustainable, personal, and woven into daily life. The result is something more valuable than any single benefit: a quieter, steadier, more honest relationship with your own life.
A Modern Creative Tool for Dreaming Up a New Quality of Life
Together, these three pillars — nature, creativity, and mindfulness — form more than a wellness journey. They become a modern creative tool for imagining and building a new, higher quality of life from the inside out — one that is shaped by who you truly are, and sustained by practices that grow with you over time. This is the invitation Lawers Skai extends to you: not to consume your way to a better life, but to create one.
“Once you have found your artistic expression, then you will know the intrinsic value of your inner world through the uniqueness of your imagination.”
– Patrick Phillips Wellness Coach

FAQs
-
A wellness coach guides individuals toward better health and well-being — supporting them in making sustainable behaviour changes to reach their goals. Just as the original coach was a vehicle that transported people from one place to another, a wellness coach carries people from where they are now to where they want to be.
The word coach itself traces back to the Hungarian village of Kocs, where horse-drawn carriages were first made in the 15th century. Over time, the term evolved from a mode of transport into a metaphor for human development — and that original meaning still rings true today.
-
Wellness coaching is a forward-focused, collaborative practice — concerned with where you are now, where you want to be, and what is getting in the way. Unlike therapy, which often works with clinical diagnosis and explores the past in depth, coaching works in the present and toward the future, supporting you to build awareness, make meaningful change, and develop a sustained sense of wellbeing. That said, the work we do together through Lawers Skai — rooted in nature, creativity, mindfulness, and compassionate mind training — is not surface-level. It takes the whole person seriously. If at any point deeper therapeutic support is needed, I will always say so and help you find the right person.

Lawers Skai is for people who sense that something essential is missing from their lives — not because everything has gone wrong, but because the life they are living does not yet feel fully their own. You may be exhausted by the pressure of modern life, disconnected from what once gave you meaning, or simply ready for something deeper than the surface-level wellness solutions on offer elsewhere. If you feel drawn to nature, curious about your own creativity, or ready to understand your mind and emotions in a more honest and compassionate way — this is likely the right place to begin.

The first session is a conversation — unhurried, open, and without obligation. It is a chance for us to explore where you are right now, what has brought you to this point, and what you are hoping for from your wellness journey. There is no agenda beyond listening carefully and beginning to understand what a personalised approach might look like for you. Most people leave the first session feeling heard in a way they did not expect — and with a clearer sense of what the journey ahead might involve. From there, we design everything around you.
