Live a life shaped by who you truly are
Create a unique mind and quality of life through nature, creativity, and mindfulness.
You've done the hard work of looking within, and know something about your connection with nature, but don't know how to deepen the relationship? You want to learn about mindfulness but are unsure of how to begin? And you finally feel ready to be creative again but are out of practice?
Lawers Skai is where that next step begins.
Lawers — named after Ben Lawers, the highest mountain in the Southern Highlands (1,214m) and the 10th highest in Scotland. Its Scottish Gaelic name, Beinn Labhair, means "speaking mountain." Skai — named after Skaistė, a Lithuanian feminine name rooted in the word skaistus, meaning bright and radiant. It captures the essence of light — glowing, alive, and full of energy. Pronounced "Skai," it rhymes with sky.
Below is a photograph of Ben Lawers, taken by Patrick Phillips in the winter of November 2020.
Meet your coach
Hello, I'm Patrick — a holistic Wellness Coach and the founder of Lawers Skai. This September, I'll be deepening my practice through the study of a Diploma in the Science and Application of the Compassionate Mind, bringing my own lived experience from childhood and adulthood into the work I do.
Lawers Skai is a service for creating a unique mind and quality of life through nature, mindfulness, and creativity — designed for personal transformation, mental resilience, and long-term emotional wellbeing, built for the challenges of modern life.
My approach is expressed through three core experiences, with a fourth arriving in 2027:
Nature — find your connection with the natural world and rediscover your authentic self
Creativity — explore your artistic expression and uncover the unique value of your imagination
Mindfulness — reduce stress, slow down, gain personal insight, and live in the present moment
Compassionate Mind Training (available from June 2027) — understand your mind through the science of compassion and evolutionary psychology, and build the inner conditions for genuine wellbeing
Working together. Three Pillars of Lawers Skai
-

Nature
The natural world is our oldest and most patient teacher. Finding your connection with it — whether beside a river, in a woodland, or among mountains — reduces stress, restores perspective, and over time begins to reveal who you really are beneath the noise of modern life. It is the ground on which everything else is built.
-

Creativity
Your artistic expression is not a hobby or a talent reserved for others. It is a fundamental human need — a way of externalising your inner world and discovering what only you can bring into existence. Through drawing, painting, and working with natural subjects, creativity becomes a practice of genuine self-knowledge and lifelong renewal.
-

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the thread that runs through everything. It is the practice of paying attention — on purpose, in the present moment, without judgment — and it changes, slowly and profoundly, how we relate to our thoughts, our feelings, and our daily experience. It offers something more valuable than the absence of difficulty: the capacity to meet life with awareness and choice rather than automatic reaction.
